چکیده

Abstract Over the past two decades, a significant number of discoveries ancient zircon xenocrysts in ocean-floor magmatic rocks have been reported. These findings provide compelling evidence for presence continental crust within young oceanic lithosphere. Almost all finds are from Mid-Atlantic Ridge. For other localities, however, similar data very limited. This report presents first age determinations (U-Pb, SHRIMP-II) and isotope-geochemical (oxygen, trace rare earth elements) gabbro-diorites Shaka Ridge, vicinity fracture zone, near western end Southwest Indian The work is based on study bottom rock material dredged during expeditionary research R/V “Akademik Fedorov” (Russia) 2016. Oxygen Isotopic Composition and U-Pb Discordance in Zircon

We have investigated U-Pb discordance and oxygen isotopic composition of zircon using high– spatial resolution !O measurement by ion microprobe. !O in both concordant and discordant zircon grains provides an indication of the relationship between fluid interaction and discordance. Our results suggest that three characteristics of zircon are interrelated: (1) U-Pb systematics and concomitant age...

U–Pb isotopic study of relict zircon inclusions recovered from Muong Nong-type tektites

Isotopic compositions of U and Pb were determined for relict zircon inclusions recovered from Muong Nong-type tektites from the Australasian and North American strewn fields. These inclusions are generally opaque white with granular textures, probably representing mechanical disaggregation and/or local melting and recrystallization. All zircons have strongly discordant U–Pb isotopic ratios and ...

Pre-Variscan evolution of the Western Tatra Mountains: new insights from U-Pb zircon dating.

In situ LA-MC-ICP-MS U-Pb zircon geochronology combined with cathodoluminescence imaging were carried out to determine protolith and metamorphic ages of orthogneisses from the Western Tatra Mountains (Central Western Carpathians). The metamorphic complex is subdivided into two units (the Lower Unit and the Upper Unit). Orthogneisses of the Lower Unit are mostly banded, fine- to medium-grained r...

Zircon U-Pb geochronology of the Ottawan Orogeny, Adirondack Highlands, New York: regional and tectonic implications

Both single and multigrain U-Pb zircon thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) as well as sensitive high resolution ion microprobe (SHRIMP ll) dating of two suites of Adirondack granites have yielded ages constraining the principal tectonomagmatic events of the Ottawan Orogeny to the interval ca 1090–1035 Ma. The earliest of these consists of mildly A-type hornblende granites of the Hawkeye...
